CHAPTER 16

You Look Different

Raven

Unleashed is my new favorite side of Nik. I haven’t had this much sex in a day since my time with Parker. I think Parker still has a leg up on Nik, which may have to do with me knowing Parker much better and a lot longer. However, nothing is lacking in Nik’s stamina. Yet, in the back of my head, sits the reality that this is short-term, so I should enjoy it for what it is.

While Nik is in the shower, I walk along the main deck and into the salon, where light floods in from the windows on either side of the room. Like everything on this boat, it’s elegantly designed. The high gloss champagne-colored wire-brushed white oak walls, wood-paneled ceilings, and wooden tables all have the same hues. The mix of caramel leather seating combined with rich charcoal velvet cushions complements the room. An oversized limited edition black and white abstract print hangs on the back wall. The hand-blown custom light hanging over the indoor dining table matches the domed lights on the coffee tables. The space is so lovely that I could sit here forever lost in my thoughts.

I sit on one of the couches, prop my back against the armrest, and stare out of the contoured windows that beautifully frame the seascape. I take out my phone and proactively call Parker’s mom, Janis. Janis is a beautiful, tall, slender woman who, even at her age, could pass for a model. It’s not hard to see where Parker gets his perfect looks. Parker’s family is lovely and treats me like part of the family. Sometimes, I wonder what my family would have been like had I been raised by two parents instead of one. Parker offered to help me research my family background, but I told him no. I might reconsider it.

Janis picks up right away. “Raven, darling. It’s so good to get your call. Parker must have told you I would reach out soon.”

“He did, Mrs. Page. How are you? I look forward to hosting the charity auction alongside you again in December.”

“I’m good. I’m also looking forward to hosting it with you. It’s one of my favorite events. Which is why I told Parker I wanted to speak with you. His birthday is coming soon, and I’ve invited some important people to stop by while they’re in town. It could be worthwhile for you and Parker to meet them. So, I wanted to make sure you’re there.”

“Of course, Mrs. Page. You know I’d never miss Parker’s party. He mentioned it might be a themed event.”

“Yes. That’s what I wanted to talk to you about. Your invitation should be waiting for you when you return home. The dress code is vintage Hollywood. I’ve already chosen something for Parker, and I envisioned you wearing this platinum dress I’m having made. I hope you don’t mind. I recall you mentioning how stressful it was trying to find something for these events. I’d love to see you in it alongside Parker.
